Where to Find Pokies in Perth, Western Australia
Pokies in Perth work differently from other Australian states. Western Australia prohibits poker machines, including conventional spinning-reel pokies, everywhere in the state. The only electronic gaming machines (EGMs) permitted are at Crown Perth in Burswood, which can operate up to 2,500 machines, and those games must meet WA rules, including that they do not use a spinning-reel display (see the WA Electronic Gaming Machines Policy). Pokie Finder helps you understand what is actually available and avoid confusing ordinary pubs, hotels or clubs with gaming venues.

Authorised location
Where Can You Find Pokies in Perth?
For electronic gaming machines, the key location is Crown Perth, on Great Eastern Highway in Burswood. The WA Government identifies Crown Perth as the authorised EGM location and says the state remains committed to prohibiting EGMs outside Crown Perth.
| Venue | Address | Status | Machines | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crown Perth | Great Eastern Highway, Burswood WA 6100 | Authorised EGM venue | 2,000+ electronic games; up to 2,500 permitted. No spinning-reel pokies. | The principal casino gaming location in Western Australia and the key destination for legal electronic gaming machines in Perth. |
Crown Perth currently promotes more than 2,000 electronic games and provides Gaming Information Terminals containing information about game odds and chances.
Crown Perth
Crown Perth Gaming Machines
Crown Perth is the only place in Western Australia where electronic gaming machines can operate, and it advertises more than 2,000 electronic games. These are not conventional pokies. WA prohibits poker machines, and every game used at the casino must be authorised by the Gaming and Wagering Commission and must not use a spinning-reel display. Spinning-reel titles found in pubs and clubs in other states, such as Lightning Link or Dragon Link, cannot legally operate in WA in that form, so do not assume a game you have seen interstate is available at Crown Perth.
| Area | Address | Status | Machines | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crown Perth | Great Eastern Highway, Burswood WA 6100 | Active EGM location | 2,000+ electronic games | Main Perth location for electronic gaming machines. |
| Crown Perth Gaming Floor | Great Eastern Highway, Burswood WA 6100 | Authorised | Electronic gaming machines | Main gaming area for Crown Perth’s EGM offering. |
| Crown Perth Premium Gaming | Great Eastern Highway, Burswood WA 6100 | Premium gaming area | Gaming machines and table games | Premium gaming facilities within the Crown Perth complex; entry requirements may apply. |
Crown Perth also operates premium gaming rooms, including the Riverside Room, which Crown says features more than 460 machines.
WA rules
Why Perth Is Different for Pokies
The biggest difference between Perth and many eastern Australian cities is where electronic gaming machines are located. In many states you can find pokies at hotels, clubs, pubs and other local venues; Western Australia operates under a much more restrictive framework.
The WA Government restricts EGMs to Crown Perth and prohibits poker machines throughout the state, including conventional spinning-reel pokies. That is why Pokie Finder does not label ordinary Perth pubs, hotels or clubs as pokies venues simply because they have a liquor licence or provide other forms of entertainment.
Hotels
Pokies Hotels in Perth
There are plenty of hotels in Perth, but they should not automatically be classified as pokies hotels. The table below shows the actual gaming status of well-known Perth hotels.
| Hotel | Address | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oaks Perth Hotel | 305 Murray St, Perth WA 6000 | No authorised pokies | Perth CBD accommodation; not an authorised EGM venue. |
| DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Northbridge | 100 James St, Northbridge WA 6003 | No authorised pokies | Northbridge hotel with accommodation and hospitality services; not an EGM venue. |
| The Ritz-Carlton, Perth | 1 Barrack St, Perth WA 6000 | No authorised pokies | Luxury Perth hotel near Elizabeth Quay; not a pokies venue. |

| Pensione Hotel Perth | 70 Pier St, Perth WA 6000 | No authorised pokies | Perth CBD accommodation; not an authorised electronic gaming-machine location. |
These are hotel listings, not claims that they provide pokies. The table helps you distinguish Perth hotels from authorised EGM venues; the WA regulatory framework identifies Crown Perth as the authorised EGM location.
Clubs
Pokies Clubs in Perth
The same distinction applies to clubs. A club can provide sport, recreation, community activities, social events or hospitality without operating electronic gaming machines, and the WA framework does not permit ordinary Perth clubs to operate the type of poker machines commonly found in clubs in some eastern states. Whether a Perth club has pokies should not be inferred from the word “club”.
| Club | Address | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| RSLWA | Level 4/28 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000 | No authorised pokies | WA RSL organisation; not a Perth pokies venue. |

Pubs
Pokies Pubs in Perth
Perth has many pubs, taverns and bars, but these should not be treated as pokies venues. Venues such as The Grosvenor Hotel, Hyde Park Hotel and Victoria Park Hotel are hospitality venues; their existence does not mean they operate the casino-style electronic gaming machines available at Crown Perth.
| Pub | Address | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Grosvenor Hotel | 339 Hay St, Perth WA 6000 | No authorised pokies | Perth tavern offering food, drinks and events; not an authorised EGM venue. |

Terminology
Understanding Gaming Machines in Perth
When searching for electronic gaming machines in Perth, you may encounter several terms, including EGM, electronic gaming machine, gaming machine, pokies, poker machine and casino gaming machine. WA law does not automatically treat these terms as interchangeable: the WA Government’s electronic gaming machine policy specifically distinguishes authorised EGMs from prohibited poker machines. See our pokies terminology guide for more terms.

Step by step
How to Find Pokies Near You in Perth
If you search for pokies near me in Perth, the most useful approach is to check whether the venue is actually authorised to operate electronic gaming machines. For Perth, the verification process is relatively straightforward:
Identify the venue
Check whether it is Crown Perth
Verify the current WA gaming framework
Check the venue’s current gaming information
Confirm entry, membership and play requirements
Check responsible-gambling information before playing
Because the WA Government restricts EGMs to Crown Perth, generic “pokies near me” directories can produce misleading results if they simply classify pubs, hotels or clubs as gaming venues.
What to compare
Compare Perth Pokies Information Before You Visit
A useful Perth pokies directory should provide more than a venue name. For each listing, Pokie Finder aims to show:
| Information | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Venue name | Identifies the business |
| Address | Helps you verify the location |
| Venue status | Shows whether it is an authorised EGM venue |
| Machine information | Identifies whether electronic gaming machines are actually available |
| Venue type | Separates casino, hotel, pub and club listings |
| Description | Explains what you can expect |
| Validation date | Shows when the information was checked |
| Regulatory note | Provides context for WA’s restrictions |

Find and Validate Pokies in Perth
Finding pokies in Perth is different from searching in cities where pokies are commonly spread across pubs, hotels and clubs. In Western Australia the key fact is simple: Crown Perth is the only authorised location for electronic gaming machines, and poker machines are prohibited across WA. The machines at Crown Perth are not conventional spinning-reel pokies. Always verify the latest venue and regulatory information before relying on a listing, and see our responsible gambling page if you need support.
